AI-Supported Lesson Planning for Teachers

This project examines how generative AI is being used to support teachers’ lesson planning across in-service and pre-service teacher contexts. Using a systematic review approach guided by the PRISMA framework, the research synthesizes existing studies to understand how teachers engage with AI during instructional planning, how AI is integrated into lesson-planning practices, and the opportunities and challenges associated with its use.

My Contributions

My contributions span the review, analysis, synthesis, and dissemination stages of the project. I conducted literature screening and full-text review using established inclusion and exclusion criteria, contributed to qualitative coding and thematic analysis of the included studies, and developed visual and tabular syntheses of the review process and findings.

I also contributed to the literature review and took primary responsibility for developing the complete results section based on the qualitative analysis. This work has supported ongoing manuscript development and preparation for scholarly dissemination.

K–12 In-Service Teachers

This strand examines how K–12 teachers use generative AI to support lesson planning and explores the opportunities, challenges, and tensions that emerge as AI becomes integrated into teachers’ planning practices.

Pre-Service Teachers

A related strand examines generative AI-supported lesson planning among pre-service teachers and is currently under development.
